We are closer to holographic meetings than you think

Virtual meetings and virtual reality platforms have been around for a while now, with people typically using them to meet remotely. However, most virtual meetings and virtual platforms rely on screens and cameras to show the remote participant’s image, resulting in a poor user experience. Holographic panels can change it all.

Augmented reality and mixed reality are creeping into our lives more every day, whether we realize it or not. So what is the difference?

Virtual reality headsets immerse you in a completely fabricated world, one where you can control everything around you. With augmented reality, digital elements are laid onto the real world- think Snapchat filters. Mixed reality.

In the movie “WALL-E,” the humans are gone, and all that is left of them are their belongings. We recently surpassed the halfway point in human existence. Inventions like Skype, Google Hangouts, and Facetime have made it possible to meet people worldwide without leaving our rooms or offices.

As we continue to make technological advances, holographic meetings and Metaverse will soon become a reality.

What is a holographic meeting, and how does it work?

A holographic meeting is a meeting in which all participants are represented as three-dimensional holograms. While this may seem like something out of a science fiction movie, the technology to make this possible already exists.

There have been several successful demonstrations of holographic meetings over the past few years.

So haven’t we started using holograms for our meetings?. The answer has to do with the current limitations of technology, but it is developing faster like godspeed.

The benefits of holographic meetings for us

There are many potential benefits of holographic meetings from sharing documents and ideas easily to listening and seeing each other more clearly.

We can have face-to-face meetings with people worldwide in a natural 3D environment with holographic technology. This could revolutionize the way we do business.

Some of the benefits of holographic meetings are:-

  • Eliminating the need for travel for meetings.
  • Reducing the amount of time spent on transit.
  • Allowing people to attend meetings who would otherwise not be able to due to geography, illness, or other reasons.
  • Making it possible to have multiple people in the same room but in different locations.

The challenges of implementing holographic technology

There are many challenges that need to be addressed when implementing holographic technology. One of the biggest challenges is making sure the holographic images are properly aligned with the user’s vision. If the images are not aligned properly and correctly, it can cause eye fatigue and strain.

Another challenge is dealing with the ambient light as it is very sensitive and can be overpowered, this can make them difficult to see in certain environments. Finally, there is an issue with the data storage and bandwidth. Holographic images require a lot of data and can quickly consume bandwidth.

Holographic meetings are the future of communication. They provide a number of benefits over traditional video conferencing, including a more immersive experience and the ability to interact with 3D holograms as if they were right in front of you.
